Safeguarding in Shirley Parish
Our Parish is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). You can find more information on Parish Safeguarding, including contact details for our PSO here.
Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.

We are taking part in Baby Loss Awareness Week by holding a Wave of Light service
at 3pm on Sunday 13th October in St James Church
This will be a quiet, reflective service in which we can thank God for the the children we have lost, for their short lives that brought love and laughter
We will have a chance as well to share our feelings
and lay and questions, sadnesses and fears before God

A prayer for the planet
God of justice and compassion,
we cry to you for the future of planet Earth.
We repent with tears
for our failure to manage its resources fairly
and for our short-sighted greed and selfishness.
Stir up in us and our leaders at this time,
a new determination to act
for the good of the poorest among us,
and for the blessing of all creation.
Martyn Payne
Be Still..... and pray
May the Love of Christ surround us
The Light of Christ lead us
The Peace of Christ fill us
The Power of Christ aid us
The Joy of Christ thrill us
The Presence of Christ
Be with us evermore.
Amen.
