We have a wide range of social and community based activities. Please see our weekly noticesheet for updates.
You’re very welcome to any or all of these activities – please contact the Parish Office for more details.

Welcome Cafe: Tuesday mornings, 10am - 11:30am in Church House*, B90 2AX. Drop in for a cuppa, a chat and a piece of cake (gluten-free option available). Come with a friend or just bring yourself - there's always someone to chat to.

Jimmy Tots: Stay and play for pre-schoolers and their parents/carers. Toys, snacks, drinks, outdoor play area, singing, chat.
Friday mornings 10 - 11:30am in Church House, B90 2AX. Just come along - no booking required.

Nordic Walking: Whether you like striding out or ambling along, using walking poles or not using walking poles, there will be someone to walk (and chat) with.

Craft Club: Alternate Tuesday mornings, 11:45am, following the Welcome Cafe. Explore a range of crafts, with chance to have a go under expert guidance.

Ploughman's Lunch : Alternate Wednesdays at 12 noon in Church House. A simple lunch of bread, cold meat/cheese and salad, followed by a delicious pudding. And of course, plenty of chat! Everyone welcome - please contact the Parish Office to book your place.

Mothers' Union : First Wednesday of every month at 2pm in Church House.
We listen to a speaker, then share news and refreshments. Meetings are open to absolutely everyone, and all are very welcome!

Mothers Union is a Christian organisation that has been supporting families worldwide for nearly 150 years. It has over 4 million members in 83 countries.
St James Bellringers: Beginners through to experts – all are welcome. Thursday evening (practice) and Sunday morning.

St James' Churchyard Gardening Group: Wednesday mornings during spring, summer and autumn from 10am for 1-2 hours. Everyone welcome to join this friendly group maintaining St James' Churchyard for the benefit of all - visitors and wildlife. Please see here to find out more about what we are currently working on.

St John’s Coffee Morning: Second Monday of every month, 10:30 – 12 noon. Coffee, cake, chat and a raffle, at St John’s, Tidbury Green, B90 1PW. (The church is situated on the corner of Tilehouse Lane and Houndsfield Lane. Parking access is from Houndsfield Lane)

Shirley Parish Book Club: Each book is chosen by one of our members. We usually have 5-6 weeks to read the book, then meet on a Monday at 2pm in Church House for around an hour to talk about it.

The Friends of St James also organise a variety of events, including coffee mornings, book sales, concerts, dinners, and a 100 Club, to raise funds for the upkeep of St James Church and Church House.
