Messy Christmas

Our next Messy Church will be on

Saturday 16th August, 10am in St James.

We'll soon be plotting and planning, so keep checking back here for details

Our theme in July was The Lord’s Prayer....

...when we did daily bread-making, sunflowers, praise sticks, biscuit ‘shields’, floating prayers, dissolving prayers, creation collages and lots more besides. Plus drinks, toast, and a joyful (praise-stick-waving) Celebration at the end.

On Sunday 27th July we have Worship 4 Everyone at 10:30am in St James, when we’ll be thinking about Growing. It’s informal, it’s fun, and it’s for everyone – including you. Why not come and see?

Finally, some important news. Vicar Paul will be retiring at the end of August, so Messy Church on 16th August will be the last time Paul and Kate will be there. Please get the date in your diary, and come and do all the usual Messy Church stuff – and to say goodbye.

But don’t worry. Paul and Kate may be going, but Messy Church will be continuing under the fabulous leadership of Sarah and Rev Richard. They will have lots of support from other members of the team – so please also make sure that you have Saturday 20th September on your family calendars, for the first Messy Church of the new school year. It’s going to be great…!

When is Messy Church?

Messy Church meets on the third Saturday of each month.

Which is really difficult to work out. (Sorry!)

What is Messy Church

What on earth is Messy Church???

Most people think of 'church' as people sitting quietly in rows, saying quiet prayers and listening to someone talking for quite a long time.

And church services can be like that...

but they don't have to be.

People can come together to enjoy being with God in all sorts of ways.

The important things are that

we are together

we are listening to God

we are learning more about God

whoever we are, and whether or not we like sitting quietly in rows and all that.

Messy Church

gives familes of all ages, shapes and compositions the chance to

enjoy crafts and other activities

take part in some simple worship

and to have breakfast together.

It's great for those of us who think with our hands

and don't much like sitting still.

It meets once a month on Saturday mornings*

10 - 11:30am

in St James' Church

(but not in the pews!)

Church Road

Shirley

B90 2AX

*the third Saturday of each month.

Don't worry - we'll remind you when it is via email if you wish.

And all our updates are posted on Facebook and this page.

Messy Church

is open to everyone -

Please come and get stuck in!
