Our last Messy Church was 10am Saturday 18th April

The children wrote their prayers on paper hugs, and decorated heart shaped biscuits. They also created maps to illustrate Psalm 23, made name placards (because Jesus knows our names) and painted marble trails (because Jesus guides us along the right paths). As well as making sheep we also found lost sheep in the Churchyard. We even constructed Bishops hats (mitres) and a giant Bishops crook!
The joyful celebration focused on the ways in which God cares for us and how the Church supports us. The children enjoyed how the giant crook was used to demonstrate this, saving the lost sheep.

What on earth is Messy Church???
Most people think of 'church' as people sitting quietly in rows, saying quiet prayers and listening to someone talking for quite a long time.
And church services can be like that...
but they don't have to be.
People can come together to enjoy being with God in all sorts of ways.
The important things are that
we are together
we are listening to God
we are learning more about God
whoever we are, and whether or not we like sitting quietly in rows and all that.
Messy Church
gives familes of all ages, shapes and compositions the chance to
enjoy crafts and other activities
take part in some simple worship
and to have breakfast together.
It's great for those of us who think with our hands
and don't much like sitting still.
It meets once a month on Saturday mornings*
10 - 11:30am
in St James' Church
(but not in the pews!)
