Schools
There are 16 schools in Shirley Parish, including one secondary school, and we have links with them all.

Here are some of the ways we work together....
"Journeys...."
Schools are invited to bring their Year 1 children to St James for a morning or afternoon session during late November/early December. Together we go on a "Journey to the Stable" using drama and interactive time in small groups - and have lots of fun too.

Year 5 children are invited to return for the "Easter Journey". Towards the end of the Spring term we use a similar, age-appropriate format, to tell the story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection.

Both 'journeys' are regularly reviewed and updated to make sure they continue to be informative and useful. We reckon that over the 25 (ish) years the Journeys have run, more than 15,000 children have participated!
Open the Book
Dramatised Bible story-telling for KS1 and KS2 by our trained team of story-tellers - often with participation from the children.
Find out more in the leaflet here.
Collective Worship
Members of our ministry team go into some of our schools on a regular or occasional basis to lead collective worship.
Visits to Church
We welcome students from a number of schools to St James Church to help them find out more about the Christian faith within the context of their curriculum. We have also visited schools to participate in lessons and discussions.

Our closest links are with Tudor Grange Primary Academy St James which is our Church School.

We support a number of school activities and the Governing Body has some Church representation.

As well as taking part in the Journeys and Open the Book, pupils have the opportunity to take part in creative Bible Art sessions and each half term ends with an act of worship in St James.
